A Total Of 430 COVID-19 Patients In Bono Region Recover – GHS

Four hundred and thirty Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19) patients in the Bono Region have recovered and discharged from treatment centres, Dr John Ekow-Otoo, a Deputy Regional Director, Public Health of the Ghana Health Service has said.

He said nine remaining patients were recuperating at various treatment centres in the region.

Speaking at a "Memorial Peace Lecture" held in Sunyani in honour of the late paramount queen of Sunyani Traditional Area, Nana Yaa Nyamaa Poduo II, Dr Ekow-Otoo said the region had not reported any COVID-19 death.

Organised by the Bono Regional Peace Council, on the theme "Female Traditional Leadership: COVID-19 Pandemic and Peaceful Elections 2020", the lecture sought to acknowledge the contributions of the late paramount queen towards promoting peace in the region.

Dr Ekow-Otoo appreciated the contributions of the media and health workers in helping to contain the viral disease and expressed the hope that the populace would continue to adhering to all safety protocols and restrictions to stem the spread of the pandemic.

Dr Mrs Vida Korang, a Senior lecturer at the Catholic University College of Ghana and a member of the Bono Regional Peace Council observed the instrumental role of the late paramount queen in peacebuilding was unparalleled.

Touching on the Election 2020, she urged religious and traditional leaders to preach peace and social cohesion and appealed to them to remain neutral and stay away from active partisan politics.

“You serve as the embodiment of the people and you must be cautious of your utterances in order not to trigger unnecessary tensions”, Dr Mrs Korang emphasised.
