Coronavirus Vaccines Won't Be Given To Sick Persons - Head of Psychology at UG Discloses

Head of Psychology at the University of Ghana, Prof. Joseph Osafo says the COVID-19 vaccines won't be administered to sick persons but people who haven't contracted the disease.

With the outbreak of coronavirus in Ghana and the world at large, the good news is the introduction of vaccines.

Coronavirus, according to world statistics, has infected 99.3 million people and killed 2.13 million with 54.8 million people still recovering from the viral disease.

The United States leads on the world map of Coronavirus (COVID-19) infections, recording 25.2 million and 419000 deaths.

Ghana has also recorded 61,489 confirmed cases, 57,597 Recoveries/Discharge and 367 deaths.

The country, according to the Ghana Health Service, has 3,525 active cases.

Speaking on Peace FM's ''Kokrokoo'', Prof. Joseph Osafo disclosed that the vaccines that are coming in will be given to persons who haven't contracted the disease to help them build antibodies to fight the virus should they come into contact with infected ones.

"The vaccine is not given to the sick person. People should understand it. The vaccines which are coming won't be given to the sick person, no! The vaccine is to protect the person who hasn't been infected by the virus," he stated.

With this in view, Prof. Osafo advised Ghanaians to protect themselves from contracting the disease because the virus is not meant for the sick persons.

"If you want to die, we don't want to die", he said adding "we need a curative agent for those who are made morbid and a vaccine. The vaccine is for you and I who don't have the disease to protect us against contracting it''.
