State Housing CEO & Former Deputy Minister For Defence Donate PPEs To Alma Mater

The Managing Director of State Housing Company, Kwabena Ampofo Appiah and Mr. Kenneth Adjei, Deputy Minister of Defence under the erstwhile John Mahama administration have donated some PPEs to their alma mater, Martyrs of Uganda Preparatory School in Kumasi, Ashanti Region.

As part of their Corporate Social Responsibility, the two top politicians who belong to the ruling New Patriotic Party and the opposition National Democratic Congress completed Martyrs of Uganda Preparatory School in 1989 and thought it wise to give back to their alma mater.

The PPE includes veronica buckets, boxes of disposable nose masks, liquid soaps, boxes of hand sanitizers, packs of hand tissues among others at an undisclosed amount.

According to them, the visit brought back fond memories and it was refreshing to see how the school has maintained its high level of discipline and academic excellence.

“The icing on the cake was seeing our class four teacher Mr. Kwarteng still teaching class four.”

Nana Appiah, State Housing MD after the presentation, said the donation is part of their contributions to support the school fight against the deadly coronavirus pandemic.

Nana Appiah said that “they chose to come in at this critical point to help the school ease the burden the pandemic has imposed on them both financially and operationally which includes day-to-day teaching and learning activities”.

He noted that in this covid-19 era, teachers must ensure that students abide with the covid-19 protocols to help curtail the spread of the pandemic.

He called on parents to support their wards to complement the efforts of teachers and government to help the lives of the children.

He encouraged other past students to support the necessary and little things that they can afford to ensure the wellbeing of the school and the students in these difficult times.

Nana Appiah and Kenneth Adjei, after the presentation, met with the students and encouraged them to learn hard since they are the future leaders.

He added that the government is doing its best by providing them with the necessary support and the school through the appropriate authorities are also ensuring that the students adhere to the coronavirus pandemic protocols that have been rolled out by the government and the Ghana Education Service(GES).

Receiving the items, the Headmaster of the school, Mr. Anane Druyeh and the Headmistress, Rev. Sister Mary Chubugum expressed gratitude to the former students for their kind gesture.

Rev. Sister Mary Chubugum further said "this is not the first time past students have surprised them with such generous support but they are always grateful for every little support that comes in”.
