Kasoa Murder: Court Remands National Security Operative Who Allegedly Killed Military Officer

The Achimota District Court has remanded Benlord Ababio, the man who is alleged to have shot and killed a military officer at Kasoa into Police custody.

The court, presided over by His Worship Prince Owusu, has ordered the accused to reappear before it on May 16.

Per the facts of the case as presented by the Prosecution, the deceased Lance Corporal Michael Danso, was a Military oficer stationed at the Army Base Workshop at Burma Camp and the accused person Benlord Ababio, also known as Nana Barima Ababio, is a National Security Operative and a self-acclaimed traditional chief in Kasoa.

The Prosecution said on April 30, 2024 at about 4pm, the deceased, Lance Corporal Micheal Danso, and two of his colleagues, Corporal Abdul Omar Rahman and Lance Corporal Ametus Mathew, went to the Millennium City Police station in Kasoa in the Central Region, to report encroachers who were developing a parcel of land belonging to lance Corporal Abdul Omar Rahman.

The accused Benlord Ababio, reportedly went to the Police station, attacked and also shot at Lance Corporal Danso who was behind the steering wheel of a Toyota vehicle, killing him instantly.

The accused was immediately disarmed and arrested for investigation.
