Stop Terrorizing Agona West Residents With Your ''Primitive'' ''UnGhanaian'' Politics - TNC Warns NDC

A group of teachers and nurses in Agona West constituency in Central Region has issued a stern warning to members and leaders of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to stop terrorizing residents in the constituency.

The group alleged that the Member of Parliament for the constituency, Cynthia Morrison, who also doubles as the Gender and Children Minister; was met with aggression from some NDC faithfuls in the constituency when she decided to go to the area to register her name for her voter ID card.

The teachers and nurses calling themselves the ''Teachers and Nurses Caucus'' (TNC) chastised the NDC saying ''the NDC in Agona West are engaging in an unnecessary tribal politics, which is not known to us in the constituency and is likely to destroy the peace in the traditional area, the constituency and for that matter the region as a whole''.

According to them, Hon. Cynthia Morrison ''has lived with us, married one of us and contributed socially, economically and politically to the development of Agona and for that matter Agona West. She is and has been one of us (Agona)'' and so condemned ''in no uncertain terms, the tribal cards being played by the NDC in Agona West against Hon. Cynthia .M. Morrison. We see this as unfortunate, unghanaian, ancient and must be stopped immediately. Towns, countries and societies are developed with people''.

The group asked the NDC to run their campaign with decorum and not bulldoze people, particularly the Minister.

''We employ the NDC to run their campaign devoid of any form of tribal politics so that we can continue to enjoy the peace we are having in Agona West. The big question now is: Are the NDC by this saying all non- Agona’s in the constituency should not vote for their candidate, because their candidate is an Agona and Cynthia is not? Should we all non- Agona’s leave for our various Towns and villages today, Agona West will be a ghost district. We are therefore appealing to all citizens to shun this behaviour of tribal politics and rather encourage oneness.

''Our Chiefs, Queen mothers, religious leaders, local peace council and all well-meaning stakeholders in the constituency should also condemn this act'',
they stressed in a statement copied to Peacefmonline.com.

PRESS STATEMENT BY TEACHERS AND NURSES CAUCUS(TNC)- AGONA WEST,CENTRAL REGION ON MONDAY 3RD AUGUST,2020

Greetings, fellows Ghanaians. We are grateful to the Almighty God for His protections on us through these trying times of Covid-19 pandemic.

All praises goes to the President of the Republic of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo and his team for their wonderful show of leadership. God richly bless them.

Aside these things, we have followed keenly as professionals, happings around the country since the start of the ECs voter registration exercise for which some unpatriotic Ghanaians trying to create unnecessary noise and tension in some parts of the country.

We wish to praise and thank the Chiefs and people of Agona West in the Central region for the peaceful nature in which we have conducted ourselves. Indeed, a sign of brotherliness, maturity and respect for our elders in the ongoing Voter registration exercise by the EC.

However, some people want these gains wiped off for their own selfish reasons. We wish to state and emphatically make it clear that, the people of Agona are peace loving and friendly and we will not countenance any act that will wipe off these gains.

The NDC in Agona West are engaging in an unnecessary tribal politics, which is not known to us in the constituency and is likely to destroy the peace in the traditional area, the constituency and for that matter the region as a whole.

We therefore condemn in no uncertain terms, the tribal cards being played by the NDC in Agona West against Hon. Cynthia .M. Morrison. We see this as unfortunate, unghanaian, ancient and must be stopped immediately. Towns, countries and societies are developed with people.

Hon. Cynthia .M. Morrison has lived with us, married one of us and contributed socially, economically and politically to the development of Agona and for that matter Agona West. She is and has been one of us (Agona).

We employ the NDC to run their campaign devoid of any form of tribal politics so that we can continue to enjoy the peace we are having in Agona West.

Our Chiefs, Queen mothers, religious leaders, local peace council and all well-meaning stakeholders in the constituency should also condemn this act.

We also condemn those who instigated and planned to prevent Hon. Cynthia Morrison from registering at Ankyiase on the basis that she is not an indigene of Ankyiase. All those behind this attempt must be called to order and shamed by all well-meaning Ghanaians.
We would therefore like to caution those behind this agenda against Hon Cynthia Morrison that they have been well noted and marked for posterity.

We humbly again call on Nananom and Elders of the land to disassociate themselves from such outmoded and anti-development politics and stop this unpatriotic tactics by some elements within the constituency.

Lastly, we are by this statement encouraging all citizens who are 18 years and above and have not yet registered to do so, since the exercise ends this week. Thanks.
