Dumsor: Sack GRIDCo Management If . . . - Allotey Jacobs Tells Prez Akufo-Addo

Bernard Allotey Jacobs has asked President Nana Akufo-Addo to take punitive actions against the management of the Ghana Grid Company Limited (GRIDCo) over electricity challenges in the country.

GRIDCo has informed the public of its intention to cut power supply to some parts of the country.

The electricity transmission company claims the company is undertaking maintenance on some power lines, hence resulting in the current intermittent power supply.

The company has pleaded with Ghanaians to endure the dark for months till the company finishes its maintenance.

But there are some people who don't believe GRIDCo.

Critics  of the company and some Ghanaians have argued that the GRIDCo's reasons are mere rhetorics.

They believe the company is hiding the truth that the country is experiencing another phase of ''dumsor'' which characterized the erstwhile John Mahama administration.

They have therefore asked the management to be true to Ghanaians.

Reacting to the issue during a panel discussion on Peace FM's 'Kokrokoo' programme, Allotey Jacobs says the President must sack the management should they fail to resolve the challenges by September this year.

"GRIDCo has given us assurance that by September, the problem will be solved. I will appeal to the President that, by September, if they are not able to resolve the challenges; he should get rid of those GRIDCo management straightaway. There has to be discipline somewhere and I will always be saying that now we have a quality leader . . . so he should be performing," he emphasized.

Allotey Jacobs urged the President to break the cycle where leaders or heads of public companies are left off the hook when they are not able to execute their duties effectively.

"It (the dismissal) should happen. It should! Somebody must start it from somewhere and Nana Addo has that capability of doing it and he should do it," he exclaimed.
