Chief Executive Officer of the InterCity State Transport Corporation (STC), Nana Akomea has fired shots at the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) and their flagbearer, John Dramani Mahama, over their conduct towards the New Patriotic Party (NPP) presidential candidate, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.
The National Democratic Congress on Saturday, August 24, launched their manifesto at the University of Education, Winneba, outlining the policies that their leader intends to implement to better the living conditions of Ghanaians should he become President in 2025.
Following the manifesto launch, Dr. Bawumia on Sunday, August 25, held a Q&A engagement with the media to explain his policies properly to Ghanaians.
But John Mahama has criticized the Vice President for holding his media session just a day after the his manifesto launch.
Mahama said; "Just yesterday the Cedi crossed the 16 Cedi to one dollar barrier. When you do something with a devious intention it backfires on you, we announced we were going to launch our manifesto on the 24th of August, immediately our opponents announced that they were going to do a media encounter on the 25th of August, the very next day.
"The intention for doing that media encounter the next day after we had announced our manifesto was to get the attention of Ghanaians from the NDC manifesto, that was the main reason that they decided to do a media encounter the very next day after we launched our manifesto.
"When you do something with devious intentions, it backfires on you. You know how to tell if people are lying, if there are people who are smooth talkers who can speak like machine guns, the time when they become stammerers you know they are lying. Somebody who has been speaking 'ratatatata' like AK 47 suddenly, at a media encounter, starts stammering."
He made these remarks while addressing his supporters during his two-day campaign tour in Ada as part of his Greater Accra Regional campaign on Tuesday, August 27, 2024.
Nana Akomea, in reply during Peace FM's 'Kokrokoo' programme, wonders how Mahama could accuse Bawumia of sabotaging his program when his manifesto launch and Bawumia's media session were held on different days.
To him, Mahama's comments go to tell "he is afraid".
"You can tell they (NDC) have panicked. They are scared!", he exclaimed.
