Celebrated reggae artiste, Rocky Dawuni, credited with a number of hit songs and awards, has been nominated for a Grammy award in the Best Global Album category in its 64th edition.

Rocky Dawuni, who grabbed the nomination with his 2020 EP, the ‘Voice of BunBon, Volume 1’, was nominated together with African music icon Angelique Kidjo, Femi Kuti and Made Kuti as well as Afrobeat superstar, Wizkid.

The Ghanaian reggae music icon became the first Ghanaian to be nominated for the Grammys back in 2015 with his sixth studio album ‘Branches of the Same Tree’.

Known for his eloquence, cultural diplomacy and passionate activism, Rocky earned the stature as humanitarian activist and was recently designated a UN Environment Goodwill Ambassador for Africa.

He burst onto the African reggae scene in 1996 with the release of his debut recording ‘The Movement’. The artiste’s introspective journey into social and spiritual consciousness garnered rave reviews.

Over the last few years, Dawuni’s music and electric live performances have attracted thousands to his concerts.

He remains Ghana’s first Grammy nominated musician, placed 10th in a CNN African Global Stars poll, a leadership council member of RFK Human Rights with global personalities like Bill Clinton (former US President), Archbishop Desmond Tutu, Quincy Jones, Ethel Kennedy, Harry Belafonte, among others.

In addition to his musical career, Rocky Dawuni has collaborated and been a spokesperson for several global bodies on various projects, including ONE.org, UN Foundation, UNICEF, UNFCC, UN Global Fund, Carter Center, Stop Poaching Now and others.
