Accra Hearts of Oak fans are calling for the head of Coach Aboubakar Ouattara, following the team’s poor start to the season.
Under his guidance, the Phobians escaped relegation narrowly on the last day after a 3-2 victory over Bechem United.
But it appears the poor run has not ended as Hearts commenced the 2024/25
Ghana Premier League season on a losing note as they lost 1-0 to Premier League debutant, Basake Holy Stars, at the Accra Sports Stadium courtesy a second minute effort from Prince Tweneboah.
The disappointing result provoked an uproar among the supporters in the stands, chanting his immediate sack and claiming he had no antidote to their problems.
Coach Ouattara took refuge in the dressing room as fans gathered and hurled insults at the entire technical team and the playing body.
With the crowd growing thicker, Head of the police unit at the stadium, DSP Raymond Yao Dorkenoo, prematurely ended the mandatory post-match conference to whisk the technical team and players.
Speaking to a section of the fans, they disclosed to this paper that the team was worse off under Coach Ouattara.
One fan stated that, “We are candidates for relegation this season and everything shows. If Hearts of Oak at home cannot beat a small team like Basake Holy Stars, then the likes of Asante Kotoko, Medeama SC, Aduana Stars, Samartex and the rest will ‘kill’ us.”
“With such a performance, we don’t deserve to be in the league. The Board chairman, Togbe Afede XIV, should sack Ouattara before our next game else they would watch matches alone.”
But Assistant Coach, Nana Yaw Amankwah, apologized to the fans on behalf of Coach Ouatarra and urged the fans to be calm.
He gave the assurance that the team would bounce back but that can only be done in a calm and peaceful atmosphere.
Hearts will this weekend trek to the Kpando Sports Stadium to play as guest of Heart of Lions.
